One of my longest ongoing archival projects is with Landmarks. Since 2020 I have been doing ground-up archival work for their institution, which has included creating a catalog system and archival forms, preserving materials, and digitizing their collections to make them publicly accessible. In addition to my archival work for their organization, I have also been engaged in exhibit curation. This has involved redesigning the Hosiery Museum and its adjoining collections in Hunt Hall to make these spaces more narrative-driven and immersive. This past year, through grant-writing & planning, I’ve helped to bring in the Spark! traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian. And, through networking with the AHA, I’ve also brought in a traveling exhibit from Auburn University on William Bartram, an Alabama naturalist.

I have been involved with the Alabama Historical Association since my collegiate years. At present I am serving on the Board of Directors for the 2024-2027 term. Notably, during the Spring 2026 Annual Meeting I presented research that was conducted during my extensive archival work with Landmarks (you can find excerpts of this presentation in the archival scoop). I am also a member of the Society of Alabama Archivists and, in 2025, was selected to attend a week-long Writing & Research Retreat that was hosted by their organization at Auburn University.

During my collegiate internship with Alabama Heritage I interviewed Gina Locklear, the “Sock Queen of Alabama,” for an “Alabama Makers” article that was published in their Winter 2019 issue. Since my internship I’ve maintained my connections here and now have another commissioned article that is expected to publish this summer (2026).

Over the years I’ve had a few individuals reach out to me for archival help on a smaller scale. This includes offering consultations for how to best preserve family keepsakes (such as scrapbooks and bibles) as well as restoring old photographs.

I have been contracted for various graphic design endeavors at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Mentone, Alabama. These projects include the creation of a chrismons book to help preserve (and provide access to) historic chrismons that were donated to St. Joseph’s.

If you’d like to know where my drive for detailed work was first honed, I spent my high school years working as a pairer in one of Fort Payne’s few remaining hosiery mills. It was highly focused & very patient work that has served me well in my present career.
